This week, we are learning to work in project groups and identify and understand a sustainability issue in our community. We will get into groups of 3 or 4 and choose an issue that we are interested in. We will work through an inquiry into the issue, to find out more about what the problems are, who are the people involved and ways to help make the issue more sustainable. There are about 6 projects that we can choose from around the future focussed theme of sustainability in our community. Here is a list of our projects:
Each group will have a leader who will write on our class blog to tell us where they are at with their projects. This will help us keep track of where we are at and if we need help, our teachers can help guide us in the right direction. We are really excited to work together to find solutions to make our community sustainable!

Today our group was working on our problem/issue, which is the language of cultures are dying. ( eg, not much people are talking maori anymore which means the maori language is dying out.) We all worked on our problem/issue together but once we finished that we completed any other slide that we hadn’t completed.What we found out interesting was that we didn’t actually know the maori language was dying out and that the government is not caring about the maori language and haven’t done anything about it. We also found it’s interesting that a lot of people are wanting to help but yet nothing can be done.

DeleteToday our group worked on Rubbish and Recycling. There were sewage leaks, rubbish and rats. One thing we found interesting was that the workplaces are probably unhygienic and it keeps us wondering how clean the food is when we buy it. Each member of our group worked on one slide each about helping our community and sustaining our environment for the future.

ReplyDeleteToday my group and I worked on a sustainability project about housing. Our group worked on finding out peoples points of views on the issue of housing. Izac was working on the summary of how our group was doing during our project. Tyrees did the survey about the housing problem.
today my group work on the problem of eating unhealthy food we read the new story titled obesity is a symptom of Poverty.(to be living in a poor life, when you dont have enough money) Robyn Toomath is a anti Obesity campaigner and said that it is poverty not Culture that leads to Obesity (people are overweight from eating too much unhealthy food )
